Azure lovers, we have good news for you. Our new years resolution in 2019 is to support the local* Azure community. We kicked off with our first Azure Meetup in December. And as the numbers below suggest... people had a great time.
- We welcomed 48 attendees and 2 awesome speakers.
- We ate 12 pizzas.
- We drank 78 bottles of soda.
- And we received 3 positive reviews from guests! More on those later.
*We're based in Maidenhead, in the middle of the Thames Valley and a 20 minute train ride from London Paddington.
So, why are we mingling in the Azure crowd?
Well, we wanted to use our focus on Microsoft enterprise platforms – and lovely office space – to create a meeting place for the UK Thames Valley technical community to share knowledge, ideas and experiences for the fast-moving world of Microsoft Azure.
Tell me more about your Azure Meetup
I'm glad you asked. Before we delve in to the detail, here are a few words from attendees at our first Meetup.
"It is a great initiative, kudos to everyone involved in building the community," Kasun.
"Great event and very well organised and informative," Matthew.
"I liked the event and I enjoyed it. I am looking forward for next calendar meeting," Riccardo.
Sound good? Here's how the evening went down... We began with drinks and chat at 6.30pm, before we moved on to the first talk. Mark Heath (Microsoft MVP) earned the audience's attention with his guide on how to get started with containers. Richard Conway (Microsoft Regional Director) followed up with tips to manage cost in Azure.
