Enterprise application monitoring

New Enterprise Application (EA) health model

The Enterprise Application (EA) Designer enables you to model your applications and save directly to SCOM using the Squared Up Enterprise Application class, replacing traditional SCOM distributed applications. Using the designer, you can configure availability monitoring for your application, map your application using Visual Application Discovery and Analysis (VADA) and model the application’s dependencies.

End user service status [EAM Plus]

Update your business dashboards with accurate availability information and meaningful status messages for your service desk and end users.

Node dependency monitoring [EAM Plus]

In addition to mapping out your application, the EA Designer will automatically setup TCP availability monitoring of each of the application components, giving your teams meaningful alerts for fast issue identification.

Operational status and SLA reporting

Use your application dashboards to report operational status and uptime of all of your applications to your business.

End-to-end application dashboarding

Out-of-the-box dashboards for Enterprise Applications enable you to rapidly deliver meaningful, end-to-end application monitoring to stakeholders across your organisation, from end-users, through IT teams to business managers and application owners.

Load balancer mapping

By working closely with our SCOM management pack partners, VADA also supports mapping across load balancers such as F5.

Component-level application mapping

For true enterprise application monitoring, you need to map your applications down to the individual websites, services and databases participating in the application. Leveraging the full power of the SCOM agent and its discoveries, VADA does exactly this.

Visual Application Discovery & Analysis (VADA)

At the heart of our Enterprise Application Monitoring solution is the ground-breaking VADA technology. VADA leverages the SCOM agent to dynamically map your applications across your infrastructure. By analysing network activity and correlating with component discoveries VADA can construct a complete end-to-end picture of your application.

Enterprise Application Designer

The Enterprise Application (EA) Designer enables you to model your applications and save directly to SCOM using the Squared Up Enterprise Application class, replacing traditional SCOM distributed applications. Using the designer, you can configure availability monitoring for your application, map your application using Visual Application Discovery and Analysis (VADA) and model the application’s dependencies.

Availability (outside-in) monitoring

Use the EA Designer to configure URL or TCP- based outside-in availability monitoring of your applications, enabling you to surface meaningful application status dashboards and availability reporting to your business.

Custom PowerShell availability monitoring [EAM Plus]

In addition to URL and TCP monitoring, our powerful custom PowerShell availability monitoring enables you to measure the availability of any application.

No new databases

Squared Up achieves everything it does without any new databases, meaning hassle-free deployment and maintenance.

Full integration with SCOM role based access control

Squared Up integrates with official SCOM API (and never directly to the ops database) meaning that every SCOM data query and operations is subject to role-based access control.

Forms and Windows Authentication

Use either forms logon (username and password) or integrated Windows Authentication depending on your requirements.

High availability

Configure multiple Squared Up web servers to be highly available using just a simple network share, ensuring your dashboards are always there for your operations teams.

Team Folders

Implementing full access control for your dashboards, Team Folders enables you to deliver dashboards and delegate control to different teams within your organisation (or to different clients if you are service provider).

Advanced matrix visualizations

Saving the best until last, the Matrix tile combines multiple visualisations into compact, data-rich grids giving you at-a-glance dashboards for every scenario.

Custom web content

If you're keen to roll up your sleeves and author a bit of HTML, use the Web tile to take your dashboards that extra step and add custom web content.

Use custom images - from world maps to company logos - to provide meaning and context to your dashboards.

Bar charts

Often used with the 'top N' reporting features, bar charts allow you to quickly focus on key resource usage metrics such as disk space and network utilisation.

A compact way of quickly spotting trends and spikes in your performance data.

Line charts

One of the core visualisations, the line charts have been carefully designed to deliver clarity, style and functionality for your SCOM data warehouse performance data.

If you need more fine-grained health state monitoring, the Monitor tile shows individual SCOM monitor health in a variety of visualisations to suit the dashboarding need.

Fire up Visio, open or create any diagram you can imagine, associate with SCOM objects, applications and groups using Visio shape data and then import into Squared Up as a completely custom dashboard. Our unique Visio integration brings to life those application architecture diagrams sitting in your archives and enables you to create monitoring visualisations that are only limited by your creativity.

Health state history

Combine with health state and SLA visualisation to give a complete picture of downtime of application availability or infrastructure components.

The SLA gauge visualisations use the built-in SCOM Service Level Tracking feature to report on application and server uptime. Use the gauges to create reporting dashboards to keep your operations teams and management informed of service levels and downtime.

Health state

SCOM's health state monitoring and rollup model is key to effective monitoring, and Squared Up's status dashboards use this to the full effect, allowing you to create clear, high impact dashboards describing the health of applications, servers and other monitored objects.

One of the essentials of SCOM, the alert visualisations offer both a summary of alert statistics - for use in a NOC dashboard, for example - and a detailed list that allows for interactive alert management.

Dashboards, alerting and reporting

Performance reporting

The SCOM data warehouse is a goldmine of information - recording near real-time metrics from every node in your environment, and retaining over a year's worth of summary data for trend analysis and forecasting. With Squared Up performance reporting, the tedious days of generating SCOM reports are behind you. All of this data is now available at the click of a button for everyone in your IT organisation, giving them a whole new level of visibility into the performance of their systems.

Wall monitor support

Maximise the impact and visibility of your dashboards on that shiny new 50 inch TV in your operations center, with the dedicated full screen mode that strips out the chrome and focuses on the data.

Total Dashboard Architecture

A concept that sets us apart from all other dashboard technologies, our Total Dashboard Architecture dynamically generates drilldown dashboards for every monitored entity - from applications and server to databases and disks - giving you full 360 degree visualisations.

Ready-made community dashboards

Go from zero to monitoring hero by publishing ready-made dashboards across your technology stack, built by experts in the community.

Dashboard Designer

It takes minutes to create dashboards using our fully interactive designer. We've also made sure you don't need to be a SCOM expert, so specialists across your IT organisation can build the views they need.

Fast, modern HTML5

The user interface that System Center Operations Manager deserves - blazing fast, easy to learn and accessible from any browser. A truly modern user experience that engages everyone with your monitoring data.

Mobile and tablet access

Need to troubleshoot while out of the office? Or walk into a meeting with a dashboard on a tablet? All of the Squared Up dashboards, alerts and performance views are available across all devices.

HTML alert email notifications

Despite the new dashboards in Squared Up, email notifications still play an important part in your monitoring strategy, so we provide you with a free tool to upgrade your SCOM email format to 'full colour' HTML and link users directly to alert views in Squared Up.

Maintenance mode

Proper use of maintenance mode is key to avoid alert noise. Squared Up gives your operations staff convenient access to maintenance for applications, groups of servers or individual servers. No more excuses!

Company knowledge editor

The built-in company knowledge feature of SCOM has always had so much potential but is so complex to administer that it becomes impractical. Our alert management features include a simple HTML company knowledge editor that enables all of your operations staff to contribute.

Management group search

SCOM management groups can be big places. Our global search feature allows users to instantly locate and view and monitored object in your environment.

Easy alert management

No need to deploy the clunky SCOM operations console to your users anymore, Squared Up provides fast, simple access to all the key alert management features - including a smart UX to prevent accidental closure of monitor-based alerts - the bane of many SCOM administrators!

Export to Excel

Export your performance reports or even whole dashboards out to Excel for further analysis or sharing. To make your life easier, we don't just export the numbers, but even generate graphs in Excel so you can add that trend line on to that disk space report that shows you're going to hit zero before the end of the quarter!

Open Access

Want to share a dashboard with 100s or even 1000s of users across your organisation? Our unique Open Access technology allows you to do just that. More than just a read-only version, Open Access renders dashboards on the server-side and serves up a real-time version of the dashboard that is secure, scalable and affordable (it's free for unlimited dashboards and users!).
