Windows Admin Center and Squared Up

Everything you need to know about our Beta extension for Windows Admin Center

Windows Admin Center (formerly known as Project Honolulu) brings a modernized, simplified, integrated and secure remote management experience to Windows Server.

We’re proud to be one of a select handful of partners chosen to participate in the private Technical Preview Program for the SDK for Windows Admin Center and to have worked closely with Microsoft throughout that preview period.

The result is that Squared Up now integrates with Windows Admin Center via our dedicated extension (Beta), bringing long-term performance data, real-time server dependency insights, application-awareness and even data from third-party tools like Splunk and ServiceNow directly to your new individual server management experience, all through a fast, modern, intuitive single-pane-of-glass UI.

Please note: this extension is currently in public Beta

About the extension

The extension (Beta) allows you to connect your Squared Up deployment (either trial or production) to Windows Admin Center and seamlessly embed the Squared Up views for any given server within the Windows Admin Center experience for that server. As well as surfacing things like long-term performance data, what application a server is a part of or allowing you to easily put a server into maintenance mode, the extension also allows you to easily break out into Squared Up views for the rest of your infrastructure and application estate.

How to get it

The Squared Up extension is available directly from the third-party extension feed newly integrated into Windows Admin Center, meaning it’s incredibly easy to get underway;

  1. Launch Windows Admin Center
  2. In the top right, click the gear icon
  3. Click 'Manage Extensions'
  4. Select 'Squared Up (Preview)' from the list of available extensions.
  5. Click 'Install'
  6. Click 'Confirm' to install the extension
  7. Apply activation code

To license the Beta extension, you’ll need your own unique access code, which you can request by completing the form below and we’ll then email across to you.

Please note that your Squared Up deployment will need to be on Version 3.4.3 or above.

What's next for the extension?

Right now, it’s early days.

The Squared Up extension for Windows Admin Center is currently in Beta and we’re eagerly looking forward to hearing customer feedback and scenarios, as well as to the next wave of Microsoft’s own enhancements to the Windows Admin Center experience.

As a result, we currently have no firm commitment to releasing this as fully-productised, production-ready software. However, we’d love to hear your thoughts, feedback or any comments you have; simply drop us a line via [email protected].

At this time, unfortunately it isn’t possible to embed Windows Admin Center within Squared Up, although we’re conscious this is something lots of clients would like to see. If you’d like to embed Windows Admin Center within Squared Up, why not add quickly add your voice to the following request in Microsoft’s User Voice.
