SquaredUp Live returned for 2026 with one big question: has the future of observability arrived? Over a keynote and six deep-dive sessions, we showed where SquaredUp is heading and how AI is changing the way teams understand their systems.
Our CEO, Richard Benwell, opened with a look at total observability, alongside demos of what’s new: building plugins and dashboards with AI, SmartInsights, the Observability Graph, and our MCP server. Then it was over to you, with two tracks of deep dives covering caching, sharing, the SCOM roadmap, troubleshooting across tools, and dashboard automation for MSPs.
Along the way, we heard from customers at Evidi and Recast, and attendees put their questions to the speakers throughout.
Total observability: has the future arrived?
We explored what total observability really means, and how close IT teams are to achieving it. We also showed how SquaredUp is using AI to build plugins and dashboards, spot anomalies in the background, connect data across your tools, and let AI agents set up monitoring from a simple prompt.
Data stream cache: New possibilities
This session showed how data stream caching opens up new possibilities for your dashboards, with a real-world perspective from Evidi. It explored what changes when your data is cached instead of queried every time, including a demo built on Azure cost data, and gave a first look at Store, our new data warehouse mode.
Build it once: Share it three ways
Dashboards only deliver value when the people who rely on them can see them, yet sharing them often falls back on screenshots, exports and one-off requests. This session demonstrated how SquaredUp makes sharing simple and controlled, featuring a customer perspective from Recast and a preview of what’s coming soon, including a shared navbar and locked variables.
Our total observability roadmap for SCOM
Whether you’re sticking with Dashboard Server, running it alongside Cloud, or planning a move, there’s a path to total observability that fits where you are today. This session gave a look at what’s coming in Dashboard Server 7.2 and a demo of the new SCOM plugin for Cloud, with SmartViz and SmartInsights running on SCOM data. There was also a preview of the Dashboard Server to Cloud migration tool, plus our plans for a community MCP server for SCOM.
Low code plugins with AI: Connect any tool with an API
Every stack has a tool or two that no out-of-the-box plugin covers, and that’s usually where visibility starts to slip. Following on from one of last year’s most popular sessions, Dave Clarke showed how to close those gaps yourself, using AI to turn an API into a working SquaredUp plugin.
Correlated troubleshooting: 5 tools, one view
When a server starts misbehaving, the clues are usually scattered across tools: an alert in SCOM, a change in Azure Arc, a warning in Defender, a ticket in ServiceNow. This session brought all four together in a single server view, using correlation from the Observability Graph (now in preview), so you can trace the problem without jumping between consoles.
Automate every dashboard with SquaredUp MCP
Onboarding a new client shouldn’t mean rebuilding the same dashboards and reports by hand every time. A series of live demos put that repetitive work in AI’s hands, using our MCP server, currently in preview. The session was built around MSP workflows, but is just as relevant to any team looking to automate dashboards and reporting with AI.
