This SCOM dashboard provides a quick overview of the alerts raised on a group of servers being monitored in SCOM and the key CPU, disk and memory utilization metrics at a glance.
Developer Advocate, SquaredUp
SquaredUp has a native plugin for SCOM, which connects to your SCOM Management Group via the SquaredUp relay agent. It imports a few key alert data streams as well as some metrics for quick reference like the CPU, memory used, disk space used, health states, etc. You can also access other metrics for different classes using the "Metric" data stream.
These are the same data streams that I've used to compile a quick server monitoring dashboard. At the top you can see the 2 tiles displaying all the alerts I have on my servers, categorized by resolution state and severity. Next to it I have at a glance all the servers that are currently unhealthy. From here I can drill down into a server and be able to access more information about that server, such as any other dashboards that this server is a part of (called perspectives) and the map which displays the relationship of this server with other discovered objects in SquaredUp.
Those of you with keen eyes will have noticed that you can also jump over to the same object in "SquaredUp for SCOM" – our flagship product dedicated to SCOM dashboarding.
Next, I've got a list of all my open alerts and then the key CDM metrics – CPU, Disk, Memory.
You can plot way more metrics than these on the dashboard though. All you need to do is select "Metric" and choose the object type. On the following screen, you will be able to see a list of all objectnames and counternames for them.
When you install the SCOM plugin, there's an out-of-the-box dashboard ready for you. You can use that as a starting point, or create your own from scratch.
Like previously mentioned, if you're a SCOM admin, we have a whole dedicated SCOM product – SquaredUp for SCOM – that you must check out!
